What’s streaming September 2024: New on Netflix, Prime Video and more

Fall always promises a bevvy of highly anticipated films and TV shows as award season content ramps up.

The buzzworthy series The Perfect Couple, based on the book of the same name, will drop on Netflix this month. Starring Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber, the series is a nail-biting murder mystery where guests attending a lavish wedding are all suspects. Think Big Little Lies meets The White Lotus. 

Netflix is also loading up on the romance with Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2 and a new rom-com starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.

Prime Video will launch a new Canadian original series, The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal, while Disney+ will release the highly anticipated series, Agatha All Along, starring Kathryn Hahn.

Show: Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story Air date: Sept. 19 Synopsis: The creators of Dahmer, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, return with a new true-crime anthology with Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. It follows the case of the real-life brothers who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez. Film: His Three Daughters Air date: Sept. 20 Synopsis: Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen and Carrie Coon star in this drama following three estranged sisters who reunite in their ailing father’s New York City apartment during his final days.

Show: Nobody Wants This Air date: Sept. 26 Synopsis: This romanctic comedy stars Kristen Bell as an outspoken podcaster who meets a newly single rabbi, played by Adam Brody. Sparks instantly fly between the unlikely duo, but how will their friends and family react?

Film: Rez Ball Air date: Sept. 27 Synopsis: In the heart of Chuska, New Mexico, a high school basketball team rich in Native American heritage face their greatest challenge. After the loss of their star player, the team must unite like never before to keep their dreams of a state championship alive. Film: Mothers’ Instinct Air date: Sept. 3 Synopsis: Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway star in this unnerving psychological thriller about two best friends and neighbors, Alice and Céline. Their perfect lives in ‘60s suburbia are shattered when a tragic accident involves one of their children. Based on: It is a remake of Olivier Masset-Depasse’s 2018 French-language film, which itself was an adaptation of the 2012 novel Mothers’ Instinct (French: Derrière la haine) by Barbara Abel.

Show: Agatha All Along Air date: Sept. 18 Synopsis: The infamous Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) finds herself powerless after a suspicious teen (Joe Locke) breaks her free from a distorted spell. Along with a coven of witches, she travels the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards witches with their hearts’ desire. Show: The Penguin Air date: Sept. 19 Synopsis: Colin Farrell stars as Oz Cobb (aka “The Penguin”) in the series that continues Matt Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman. It details the transformation of Oswald Cobblepot from a disfigured nobody to a noted Gotham gangster.
